About the Role

Elite Equipment Rentals is hiring a Heavy Equipment Diesel Mechanic to support our Salt Lake City equipment rental and service operation.

This is a hands-on mechanic role working on hydro-excavation trucks, vacuum trucks, heavy equipment, fleet vehicles, and related construction equipment.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in heavy equipment, diesel repair, fleet maintenance, construction equipment, or industrial service environments who enjoys troubleshooting equipment, performing repairs, and helping keep operations running efficiently.

What You’ll Do

• Diagnoses, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintain diesel engines and heavy equipment
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on fleet vehicles and rental equipment
• Repair hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems
• Complete work orders and document repairs accurately
• Work closely with operations personnel to minimize downtime and maintain equipment readiness
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment
• Assist with equipment inspections and service coordination as needed

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic, heavy equipment mechanic, or heavy equipment technician
• Experience working on heavy equipment, construction equipment, fleet vehicles, or industrial equipment
• Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and diagnostics
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical failures and equipment issues
• Experience working on heavy equipment, hydro excavation equipment, vacuum trucks, CAT, Cummins, Vactor, HiVac, Rebel, Peterbilt, Kenworth, or similar equipment is preferred.
• Welding or fabrication experience is a plus
• CDL is a plus, but not required
• Must have basic mechanic tools and the ability to work independently and in a fast-paced shop environment

Compensation & Benefits

• $40.00 – $47.00 per hour based on experience
